Design is a conversation

As a UX researcher, I am a dedicated interpreter to this dialogue: collecting anecdotes, experiences and reactions, translating them into actionable design directions.

Interpreting the design conversation is an ever-changing and adaptive process. As a part of my studies of Human-Computer Interaction Design at Indiana University (and my subsequent work in the field), I have employed a wide variety of methodologies and approaches, and this represents a broad overview.

Great design starts with great research.

From exemplar review to contextual inquiry, my research methodologies focus on asking the right questions to answer from the outset.

Insights are catalysts for design concepts.

I excel at distilling large volumes of research quickly down into actionable design recommendations, and use those insights to light the spark that drives my work.

Anything worth doing is worth improving.

Constant communication and feedback is vital to successful design: from users, coworkers and stakeholders. I strive to always listen and improve.

Know thy process.

At its most elemental, Design is about making judgments. Reflecting on the process as a whole after a project ensures that I get the design right, and the right design.
